Seaside in the Square is back – #SITS19

Southampton’s Seaside in the Square is back this year and there’s even more events and activities going on!

You might remember that I attended their press event last year along with the Southampton Bloggers and this year they invited me back again to their opening/press night to see what they have lined up for this year.If you’re not familiar with it – I blogged about last year’s event here.

For three weeks in summer, until Sunday 11th August, Guildhall Square in Southampton is turned into a giant beach; Seaside in the Square! There’s (literally) tonnes of sand, a stage for live music and a big screen for cinema viewings and other events. There are also activities going on all day every day such as yoga, beach games, an outdoor cinema, a bar and lots of other things to get involved in.

The full schedule of Seaside in the Square events can be viewed HERE.There’s over 100 free events and activities going on and there’s a really great mix of family friendly activities, to sports and even a bingo session hosted by Orange Rooms.

The beach is open Monday to Saturday 09:30 – 23:00 and Sunday from 09:30 to 21:30 and has been kitted out with all sorts of lovely seating, decorations and giant tent (great for relaxing out of the sun) from IKEA and we all really enjoyed pottering around with the sand between our toes.

We got the chance to have a go at making cocktails; mine’s a mojito! And were kindly given some mini sessions in Aerodynamic Yoga, beach football from Decathalon Southampton and a gruelling workout from the chaps at Bar Tribes. The workout happened to be pretty hilarious as we were mostly in dresses and skirts, but in appropriate clothing would be a great workout!

Some of the Seaside in the Square events need to be booked in advance, like the cinema – but they are still free!I went to a few activities last year and am definitely planning some more this year. I think this event is such a lovely idea and a great way to enjoy all the beautiful weather we’ve been having so far!

Has anyone else tried any of the activities?
